Duties & Responsibilities

The position’s primary focus will be the payroll function with Human Resources duties as secondary, but of equal importance.
Areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to:

Payroll
– Collate and capture timesheets, leave records and all other payroll related documents
– Review leave balances, staff clockings and time-keeping to ensure the most efficient
management of staff leave
– Prepare the monthly salaries and wages payrolls for approximately 600 employees
spread over six payrolls
– Ensure the determined paydates are achieved for all employees
– Preparing and processing of accounting entries for all payroll transactions
– Preparing and submitting all monthly and bi-annual required documents and returns
to the South African Revenue Service

– All third party payments to made by the determined deadlines with accompanying
reconciliations and remittances
– Prepare the weekly wage information for casual labour and ensure third party labour
suppliers get paid on time

Human Resources
– Completing and maintaining all Injury on Duty and related documentation
– Attending all human resources associated meetings and compiling detailed minutes of
such meetings
– Scanning, filing and following up on obtaining the required forms and documents
– Maintaining the electronic document library
– Assist with all human resource projects and initiatives
– Maintaining all training, development and employment equity registers and data

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • 5 – 8 Years exp. in Payroll Processing with HR Administrative background in the FMCG industry
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles including Journals and General Ledger Reconciliations
  • Excellent command of English – both written and verbal
  • Advanced skills in Excel with experience on Sage People, Pastel Payroll or VIP Payroll
  • Exp. in handling a weekly & monthly payroll run for +- 600 employees
  • Extensive knowledge of labour and taxation legislation – STRONG with Taxation on fringe benefits – NB!!!!
  • Sensitivity and understanding of the confidentiality associated with personal and HR information, with exp. with the POPIAct
  • Attention to detail, analytical and process orientated
  • Requiring speed and accuracy in the execution of daily duties
  • A dedicated approach to meeting deadlines consistently
  • Passion for working with people
  • Diploma or Degree would be advantageous

Package & Remuneration

R27 000 – R33 000 pm
