Setshaba Research Centre Association: Site maintenance officer
Introduction
Setshaba Research Centre (SRC) is a South African, Non-Governmental/Non-Profit Organization in the field of clinical and social scientific research. The centre is located in Soshanguve Township, within the City of Tshwane, Gauteng. SRC was founded in 2004 as a medical research centre with the objective of creating value and contributing to the greater good of society.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Perform minor repairs for the site
- Install appliances and equipment as per need.
- Ensure that the equipment is maintained, serviced, cleaned and properly stored.
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. alarm system, fire hoses, fire extinguishers, etc)
- Inspect and ensure that all damages to building surfaces are repaired.
- Assemble, erect and/or install equipment and furniture as per site needs
- Participate in different projects (e.g. renovations, building, etc)
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
- Address any problems related to the maintenance of the building including painting, repairs, electrical and plumbing
- Perform other related duties and activities as required
- Report to Head of the Department (HOD) for issues that cannot be resolved.
- Responsible for the site security.
Requirements
- Based locally – close to the site to be able to respond to the site emergencies timeously.
- Have own vehicle for the weekend and night site emergencies.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Experience in a maintenance or artisanal role
- Experience using hand and electrical tools
- Artisanal skills
