Retail Detail: Laboratory Technician

Introduction

Reporting to: Quality Assurance Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

Areas of responsibilities will include but are not limited to

  • Effectively & efficiently monitor & facilitate production quality through the maintenance of the laboratory; the maintenance of the Quality Management System; & safety & hygiene standards to ensure FSA compliance
  • Manage laboratory operations fully in compliance to ISO 17025 standards, develop, maintain, and revise the laboratory manual.
  • Conduct all internal laboratory testing and co-ordinate all external testing with the accredited service provider. Communicate results to all relevant parties and handle all related documentation.
  • Conduct internal audits within the food safety management system.
  • Educate staff about hygiene standards & safety procedures.
  • Participate in HACCP studies (member of the Food Safety Team).
  • Performing clerical and typing duties
  • Special projects and additional duties as assigned

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

Your Strengths

  • ND in Food Technology/ Biotechnology / Microbiology or equivalent
  • Food Safety Systems Certification / training certificate preferable
  • Internal auditing course will be advantageous
  • The candidate should have at least two to five years of experience in Microbiology / Laboratory and working within the FMCG industry
  • Experience in and understanding of all hygiene related practices & GMP’s
  • Advanced Computer literacy
  • Experience with quality management, microbiology and legislative requirements
  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing in English with report writing skills and compilation ability

  • The candidate must be able to work independently in a structured and logical manner and be able to plan to meet strict deadlines timeously.
