The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a residential boarding school with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12 students write the Independent Examination Board (I.E.B.) NSC Examination.

●A diploma or degree in Remedial Therapy
●Further training or qualification in working with children and youth

●At least 2-4 years’ post qualification experience as a Remedial Therapist providing learning support to high school learners.
●At least 2 years’ teaching high school English will be preferable

●Experience working with specific learning disabilities, eg. Auditory processing disorder, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, ADHD.
●Experience working with individuals and groups
●Experience working with vulnerable children.
●Willingness to learn how to use and implement the Neurosequential Model of Education.

●Demonstrated ability in providing specialist remedial therapy services within a learning environment
●Understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of children and young people
●Demonstrated awareness of diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds
●Knowledge of the Children’s Act and legislation pertaining to children
●Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and proposals
●Demonstrated ability to work effectively as an individual and in teams.
●Willingness to participate in the broader life of the Academy and to contribute positively to the ethos of the school.
