The Community Facilitator role
The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, Aids-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) programme provides a comprehensive package of core interventions to address key factors that make adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) particularly vulnerable to HIV. These include structural factors, such as gender-based violence, exclusion from economic opportunities, and a lack of access to secondary school. DREAMS layers multiple interventions at once so that AGYW are surrounded with critical support to keep them safe from HIV and other risks.
NACOSA is collaborating with No Means No Worldwide to implement IMpower, the evidence based child safety and violence prevention program under the DREAMS program. IMpower Instructors will first go through an intensive 3-week training to learn the proven IMpower system of violence prevention, intervention and recovery. During this training, Instructors will master a 12-hour curriculum for females ages 15-19 years that imparts mental, verbal and physical skills as well as feminist philosophy and human rights.
