Introduction

THE ORGANISATION

The Company is a telecommunications carrier based in Sandton. It provides data communications services to wholesale carriers and wholesale clients in the Middle East, Africa, West Asia, and other international regions. The company offers a portfolio of solutions that include Ethernet products; and carrier grade network services. It also provides global dedicated Internet access, broadband Internet access, and IPVPN or public MPLS Lite services; and VoIP products, including VOIP solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

THE POSITION / ROLE

The Company is seeking to employ young IT graduates on a one year internship programme. During this time, interns will receive practical on the job training with the NOC engineer Department. Interns will as the one year internship progresses, take on increased levels of responsibility. The purpose of this internship is-subject to business volumes- to retain interns after the internship so as to place them into specific positions such as Junior NOC Engineer. Whilst the salary over the year is limited to R4000; successful candidates who complete the internship and are employed into specific full time positions, then receive a market related salary-a significant increase- and are positioned to advance within the Company.

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • BSC in Computer Science or BTech in IT or similar qualification.
  • Experience in IT during university vacations or some IT experience after graduating would be an advantage but not essential; what is more important than experience is the ability and willingness to learn, work hard, and use one’s initiative.
  • Prepared to work shifts including evenings and weekends as typically required in a NOC environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills, especially verbal.
  • Conscientious and hard working.
  • Candidates must be prepared to work for the salary on offer during the one year internship-namely R4000 per month.
  • In terms of the Companies EE plan and BBBEE programme, preference will be given to Black candidates.

Package & Remuneration

R4000 per Month. After the One year internship is completed and candidates are placed into permanent positions, then market related salaries will be provided.
