Godrej South Africa: Brand Manager – Wet Hair

Introduction

Our International operations offer a wide diversity of scale (10 Mio USD to 200 Mio USD), markets (10% to 80% organized retail), management (fully owned to joint ventures) and cultures (South East Asia, Sub Sahara Africa, UK and LATAM), leading to consequent diversity of business models.

Africa: Rapidol, a strong player in hair color brands was acquired in September 2006 gave an opportunity to enhance its global presence through the Modern Trade Network. Kinky, leading player in dry hair was acquired in April 2008. Tura, one of Nigeria’s leading beauty companies was acquired in June 2010. In June 2011, GCPL acquired a majority stake in pan-African leading hair care company ‘Darling Group Holdings’ that operates in 14 countries across sub-Saharan Africa. Frika Hair was acquired in March 2015, which enjoys premium positioning in the South African hair market since 1998.

Asia: In May 2010, we acquired an Indonesia-based Megasari group operating in a range of household products. GGME established in Sharjah ensures distribution in the Middle East. We also have operations in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Europe: Keyline Brands (now Godrej UK) was acquired by GCPL in October 2005 operating in the toiletries and personal care sector.

South America: Argentina based Issue Group and Argenocs in May and June 2010 (now integrated as Godrej Argentina), has helped GCPL make significant inroads into the hair colors markets of Latin America. In 2012, GCPL acquired 60% stake in Cosmetica Nacional, a market leading hair colors and Cosmetics Company in Chile.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your role specifications

 

•Identify key Category issues and opportunities through data analysis to drive the growth agenda for your portfolio, taking into account consumer insights and competitor activity. •Develop and implement the annual  through-the-line-brand promotional plans to drive demand for your portfolio •Propose and monitor marketing mix strategies to build integrated and engaging consumer brand experiences to drive Brand growth •Mobilise and collaborate with other departments internally (sales, supply chain etc.) and partner agencies to support marketing objectives. •Assess and implement new product launches and maintain growth in pillar products •Follow up with commercial team, carrying out post-launch tracking of new product development and numerical distribution objectives.

• •Understand the parameters of the marketing budget and manage marketing activities within the specified budget. •Ensure timeous management and processing of payments to suppliers •Ensure accurate and timeous reporting of all spend within the budget. •Prepare monthly and quarterly Category performance reports for the line management/ senior management. •Manage the execution of the below-the-line activations in line with the approved annual plans •Develop your knowledge of the Godrej CP, get to know the culture, develop your expertise in marketing, project management and operational excellence key stakeholders.

•A real passion for and understanding of beauty products is a must. •Experience or familiarity in consumer trends and insights in FMCG. •Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking. •Comfortable working with numbers, metrics and spreadsheets. •Good understanding of the marketing mix. •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills •Up-to-date with latest trends and marketing best practices •Marketing qualification – B.com or related business degree or Diploma in Marketing/Brand Management or IMM Certification •2+ years working experience (FMCG/Retail industry) preferred •Experience in beauty products would be an advantage •Delivers excellence with agility and rigor •Project management
