Job Description The Process Control Manager will provide coordination and control over the execution of C&A activities in order to ensure stability and integrity of Manufacturing Systems throughout CCBSA. The PCM will support in personnel, systems and process development through normal operation as well as project conditions. This role will be the custodian of C&A standards across CCBSA and will lead in mitigation of risks arising from existing deviations. The PCM will report to the Manufacturing Systems Engineer and will assist in problem solving, change management and enhancing operational performance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Key Outputs and Accountabilities Develop Control and Automation Standards • Design a roadmap to enhance current and future resource development. • Evaluate current C&A landscape across CCBA. • Analyse C&A environment and develop adequate standards for review by Manufacturing and Engineering leads. • Develop standardised processes and procedures in consultation with operational leads to ensure C&A stability and reliability. • Assist with ensuring that the system architecture environment remains aligned with manufacturing systems standards and IT standards where applicable. • Create and maintain a C&A community by enabling knowledge sharing and skill transfer. Lead C&A Performance Optimisation • Facilitation, implementation and project management of automation and control systems projects to satisfy the requirements of manufacturing within budget and timelines. • Manage resources (both equipment and personnel) to ensure business continuity in short and long-term windows. • Identify and motivate technical CAPIN justification. • Coach, guide and assist both direct reports and influenced roles in project and operational scenarios. • Lead and effectively manage change, supporting pre-implementation, execution and post-implementation for pure C&A initiatives and activities that impact on C&A. • Ensure the integrity and reliability of production systems software and hardware from PLC devices to ERP system by monitoring maintenance, adherence to standards and effective problem solving. • Consult and lead on technology and policy decisions in terms of new equipment and managing existing installations. Extract Value from Manufacturing Systems • Proactively optimise Process Performance, through appropriate Problem-Solving Techniques and statistical analysis in order to improve performance. • Monitor and evaluate operational processes with respect to C&A. • Proactively engage relevant technical/functional resources to initiate problem solving when deviations occurs. • Ensure proven solutions are entrenched and ubiquitous where financial viable. • Evaluate cost/benefit ratio of proposals to ensure efficient investment in technology, enhancements and maintenance with respect to C&A. • Scope and define changes with input from operational requirements and supplier expertise and determine the best specification/cost ratio I order to adequately suit business needs. • Determine actual system utilisation to leverage current installations to full potential. Judgement and decision making • Supports the intent of ensuring that the functional solution integrates into the broader CCBA template. • Has joint accountability to ensure that Manufacturing Systems solutions are delivered on time, to budget and meets the requirements of the function. • Has authority to execute changes in order to ensure manufacturing uptime is maintained without adversely affecting system integrity.
Skills, Experience & Education Qualifications and Experience Qualifications • BSc Engineering (Electronics) or BTech Electrical Engineering (Light Current) Knowledge and Experience • At least 8 years in C&A operational or project role or system integration. • Understanding of virtual systems, network configuration and manufacturing applications. • Specialised knowledge of Instrument and Control calibrations, configurations, maintenance, fault finding, installation standards, documentation standards and instrumentation protocols. • Good understanding of and experience with Wonderware Archestra and Intouch based SCADA systems. • Experience in leading problem solving and providing solutions in tine sensitive environments. • Solid experience in unifying disparate control/information systems. • In-depth knowledge of PLCs hardware and software and industrial networking. • Good manufacturing and process understanding. • Experience in process improvement techniques and demonstrable experience and understanding of a broad range of business functions and processes and their operational challenges. • Experience operating in successful cross-functional teams through both continuous improvement and project based initiatives. • Understanding of business processes for IT. • Deep understanding of how to plan, implement and sustain changes both operationally and systematically. • Experience in shaping and developing repeatable methodologies for building and maintaining functional capability development approaches and tools. • Ability to influence and direct teams effectively, and with the necessary attention to detail where required.
