Recruitment Specialist/HR Generalist

To provide Human Resources and Recruitment related support, advice and guidance to the organisation with the aim of improving performance, morale, company culture, and HR practices.

The position is located in Sandringham Johannesburg.  This is full-time position in an internal HR Team.  The organisation is a Non-Profit, and has a staff compliment of 750 staff.  Salary will be experience dependant, benefits include provident fund.

Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment
Manage full recruitment function for the Chevrah Kadisha, including:

  • Attraction and Selection
  • Develop a strong understanding of the role and division
  • Guide and advise hiring managers on job specs, job analysis, recruitment strategies and recruitment best practice
  • Attract suitable candidates utilising a variety of recruitment platforms
  • Conduct thorough screening process in order to effectively shortlist applicants
  • Set up interviews
  • Conduct and facilitate effective and quality orientated competency based selection processes, interviews, and assessments.
  • Create and maintain a talent pool
  • Hiring / Onboarding
  • Compile offer letters and extend offers
  • Conduct relevant checks and references
  • Draft Employment Contract
  • Complete all onboarding documentation with employee
  • Professionally integrate new employee into Chev environment
  • Run induction with new hires

 

  • Ad hoc tasks
  • Carry out all administrative functions relating to recruitment
  • Ensure an updated recruitment status report is kept and submitted to Group Manager: People on a weekly basis.
  • Skills development and employment Equity
  • Keep minutes of all Employment Equity and Skills Development meetings
  • Ensure compliance with relevant SD and EE requirements by communicating and collaborating with stakeholders
  • Coordinate Employment Equity and Skills development meetings with EE Manager, EE Consultant and EE committee
  • Ensure documents and reports are submitted timeously and updated record keeping thereof
  • Coordinate skills gaps and training needs analysis with managers
  • Source training and service providers
  • Liaison with SETA
  • Maintain adequate training records
  • Assist with the scheduling of internal and external required training
  • Compile all info and documents for WSP and ATR reports in order to ensure that skills grants are received
  • Facilitate Training as and when required (Skills based and HR related)
  • Compile all documents for EE reporting purposes
  • Communication with EE Committee
  • Set up meetings with EE committee and EE Consultant
  • Take minutes of EE meetings and keeping registers
  • Keep records of all EE Documents
  •  

    Industrial Relations

  • Record keeping on all disciplinary matters and ensuring follow-up if necessary
  • Sit in on disciplinary enquiries as HR rep
  • Provide support and guidance to Managers on disciplinary matters
  • Issue counselling’s and warnings as required
  • Serve as translator in Disciplinary meetings
  • Collate documents and evidence for Hearings and CCMA
  • Liaise with labour consultants as appropriate
  • Issue disciplinary hearing notices, suspensions and outcomes to employees
  • General
  • Assist staff with general queries and concerns
  • Escalate matters to Senior HR Generalist / Group Manager : People as necessary
  • Advise staff and managers on policies and procedures
  • Carry out administrative duties linked to the role
  • Generate relevant reports as required
  • Keep HR policies, procedures and forms relevant and implemented
  • Conduct Exit interviews
  • Serve as translator in HR meetings
  • Assist HR team with all HR Projects, initiatives and events
  • Administration of clock-in system (ERS)
  • Ensure departmental rosters are received timeously on a monthly basis

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

Required Education, Training & Experience:

  • A relevant tertiary Human Resources qualification or equivalent – advantageous
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an internal Recruiter and HR consultant role
  • Basic knowledge of all South Africa relevant legislation (LRA, EEA, BCEA, SDA)
  • Own reliable vehicle and a valid SA drivers Licence
  • Able to speak an African language
