is Currently Looking for a Construction Manager in the Mining Industry. 
+/- 3 yrs Contract.

Purpose of the Job:

To manage construction activities on site.  This includes all scheduled and unscheduled activities on a day-to-day basis, meetings with contractors regarding progress, quality and contractual issues, morning meetings with Project Staff Supervisors regarding progress and quality issues as well as regular VFL Inspections – surface and underground.

The purpose of the request is for the CM to manage the supply, installation and commissioning of online condition monitoring hardware on the rope shovel, Example – from a North Concentrator Plant and South Concentrator Plant.

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

Experience +/-5 years in the mining industry or relevant field.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Safety Management:
  • Manage and co-ordinate the onsite safety meetings, initiatives and enforce legal requirements while holding regular audits.
  • Actively enforce and encourage a stop and fix culture related to all nonstandard operations on site
  • Ensure that incident investigations are carried out and concluded as per Anglo policy and procedures.
  • Scope change control system management:
  • Any change management situation with the interaction of project personnel/ contractor and OPEX personnel
  • Control of scope changes according to Anglo policy
  • Planning and programming of the project:
  • Manage onsite planning with Site Planner
  • Continuously monitor all schedules as well as re-planning to achieve new targets
  • General project cost management and budget control 
  • Ensure cost control of allocated cost centre to cater for PPE, office management, stationery, training, etc. within agreed allowance
  • Compile annual budgets for site management
  • Construction and handover management:
  • Liaise and co-ordinate between the site contractor’s management teams, the TWP engineers and the clients’ representative across all disciplines
  • Ensure project handover as per Anglo policies and procedures
  • Project risk control:
  • Lead and coordinate the risk management process
  • Approve identified corrective actions
  • Obtain executive management approval for contingency applications
  • Manage corrective action implementation
  • Ensure formal record of lessons learnt
  • Raise contingency requests
  • Manage the risk event record system
  • Update the risk management plan when required
  • Coordinate the updating of risk close-out data

  • Project communication:
  • Responsible for effective communication between the contractor and the client and between project team members
  • Communication includes the reporting on progress and expected delays or constraints to the client
  • To hold project team meetings for the dissemination of information to the team
  • Schedule Management:
  • Manage the contractor’s schedules against contractual programs, utilising site supervisors to do daily monitoring
  • Quality Management:
  • Manage all site based QCP’s through the discipline supervisors utilising TWP standard documents

 

 

o  Site Administration:·

Manage timesheets, leave and other HR issues of existing TWP site team·

Approval of time off and leave·

Ensure that systems for documentation management are established, maintained and adhered to

o  All care and maintenance works management:·

Manage care and maintenance for all site requirements·

Assist and manage all non-contractual works not done by mine personnel 

 

Profile

Requirements for the Position:

Education

  • Minimal NHD Technical Qualification 
  • SACMP registration an advantage
  • GCC  – Non Negotiable

Training

o  Computer Literacy i.e. MS Office including MS Projects

SH&E

o  Appropriate formal Safety qualification

Experience

o  5 to 10 years’ experience in Construction Management
