Introduction

Purpose:

We are looking for an experienced Food and Service Manager with strong leadership skills to be based in Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal – Mkuze and to join our team with a large volume of hotel guest and functions up to 250.

To lead by example and uplift, train and upskill our staff in a fast-paced environment to ensure we deliver customer service excellence. Responsible for overseeing the efficient running and probability of the restaurant and managing the reporting staff compliment effectively.

Maximizing the value of an appealing atmosphere in the restaurant and ultimately, to ensure our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have pleasant dining experiences.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas:

  • Co-ordinating efficiently daily restaurant management (Food and Service) operations
  • Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations
  • Maintaining high production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Delivering superior food and beverage service and maximizing customer satisfaction
  • Responding efficiently and accurately to restaurant (food and service) customer complaints
  • Delivery of a high-quality menu
  • Compiling and implementing set work schedules and planning staff for off days, leave and ensuring coverage of the restaurant area (Organize and supervise shifts)
  • Oversee food prep and make sure we comply with health and safety restaurant regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
  • Regularly review product quality and research new vendors
  • Motivate your team
  • Estimate future needs for goods, kitchen utensils and cleaning products
  • Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
  • Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices
  • Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations
  • Roll-out, train and implement the SOP’s
  • Staff disciplinary and performance management
  • Overseeing the stock levels and inventory management with the Stock Controller by forecasting needs
  • Ensuring all administrative duties for the department are fulfilled

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Behaviour:

  • Senior Certificate Matric
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications – hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus
  • 3-5 years of food and beverage service industry experience required
  • 2-3 years management skills
  • Proficient in English and local indigenous language advantageous
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills
  • Computer literate – MS, Systems knowledge of Micros & Opera
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Team player
  • Honest, Reliable and Disciplined
  • Self-starter, motivated with high energy levels
  •  Proactive attitude and problem – solving skills
  • Attention to detail and organised
  • Experience in front and back house
  • Proven track record as food and service manager
  • Customer Service must be high priority
  • F&B knowledge – ability to recall ingredients, dishes etc..
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Experience in training staff is essential

Package & Remuneration

Remuneration & Requirements:

  • Must be willing to relocate and work long hours
  • Live in position
  • 3-month probationary period is essential
  • Salary Commensurate with experience and qualification
  • 7% Provident Fund contribution
  • 50% Medical Aid contribution
