Core purpose of the role

The Officer: IT Governance is responsible for ensuring the effective working of the IT governance structures across the division.

Key deliverables and outputs

1.Perform committee secretariat functions for IT governance support committees, including:
•Co-ordination of meeting schedules
•Providing agendas in liaison with committee chairs
•Preparation and distribution of committee packs
2.Ensure the co-ordination of action items and resolution from all IT governance committees and selected IT governance support committees.
3.Co-ordinate reporting for the various IT governance structures, including the Barloworld Group IT Governance structures.
4.Responsible for the identification, drafting and approval of IT governance processes, procedures and standards.
5.Maintain the IT Governance Charter and Framework.
6.Maintain a central repository for all IT governance artefacts.
7.Own the updating of the Barloworld Group King IV Scorecard for the division. Drive action items to ensure compliance to the scorecard.
8.Responsible for the awareness of governance of IT processes, procedures and standards.
9.Responsible for drafting of IT governance awareness artefacts.
10.Responsible for arranging and facilitation of IT governance awareness meetings/workshops.
11.Track annual updates to IT policies, processes and procedures and ensure the updates are completed timeously.
12.Obtain approval for updated IT policies, processes and procedures.
13.Keep abreast of developments in IT Governance.

•Degree in IT or equivalent qualification

•ITIL certification
•IT governance certification

•3 – 4 years’ experience in IT and with at least 1 year exposure to IT Governance committees
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and other commonly used office software products.
•Good understanding of IT governance frameworks and structures
•Knowledge of King IV Principle 12
•Basic understanding of the organisation’s mission and objectives and how these align to the IT strategy
•Well-developed communication skills to interact at all levels
•Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships at all levels, influence a variety of stakeholders
