Introduction
eNCA: SOUTH AFRICA’S MOST WATCHED TV NEWS CHANNEL. eNCA is South Africa’s most trusted independent TV and online news brand. It launched on June 1st, 2008 to become the country’s first 24-hour television news service.

Reporting to the Audio Mixer.

The incumbent is responsible for audio mixing during live broadcast.

1.Broadcasting live mixing
•Conform to broadcast standards e.g. EBU, sync
•Set up fader strips on mixing console check eq, gains, aux etc.
•Make sure the corresponding aux is opened to that corresponding telos / hybrid
•Set up and check channel strips for remote feeds via matrix
•Do technical checks with audio assistant
•Set up hybrids test unit etc.
•Ensure that comms is working to all the relevant parties
•Lineup sync test with jhb engineer (color bars tone, clapper board test, lip sync and test signal generator
•Once talent is mic’d and ready, set up eq on their voices on the console
•During productions test hybrids with talent and guest via aux pre fade before putting them to air
•Mix audio to international standards 0db where possible
•While mixing listen to TD`s instructions, follow vision mixers visuals with corresponding audio
•Following auto cue / teleprompter
•Check program output levels at all time to prevent distortion
•Listen to mix
•Make changes to packages , hybrid levels as required
•Communicate with TD and EP at all time

2.Responsible for audio mixing on location
•Record sound on location, usually in synchronization with a camera by means of a field mixer
•Prior to every shoot check gear and production requirements
•Set up mic’s- labels and boom, check that the receivers and transmitters is paired to the same frequency (per pair)
•Test battery voltage for transmitters and transducers so that you have an idea how long you can record, always have a spare pair of batteries for mixer as well as transmitters and receivers
•Make sure connections from mixers output is connected to the camera
•Test with cameraman
•Mic up the talent ,check the levels
•Manage audio signal /monitor audio
•Mix accordingly

3.Liaising
•Liaise with TD/EP about show requirements
•Write reports of issues during productions to HOD of audio

Education: Matric, Audio qualification or equivalent
Languages: Business English
Experience: Minimum of 3 year relevant experience
