BMG Bearing Man Group: Receiving Manager

Purpose

To manage efficient, accurate and timeous receipt of inventory into the CDC whilst ensuring that all shipments
received, are ready for put away or sent to relevant departments within the agreed period.

Key Performance Areas

1. Monitor upcoming shipments
• Receiving manager must be aware of all incoming shipments, monitor arrivals and ensure sufficient
resources are available
• Receiving manager to ensure that all necessary factors affecting incoming shipments are dealt with
prior to arrival
• To clear receiving lanes in which shipments are to be offloaded to prior to arrival
• To advise suppliers and the shipping department of potential congestion and make alternative
arrangements to avoid such
• To ensure that the offloading area is free of obstacles/stock in order to allow free movements of
forklifts when offloading

2. Ensure accurate, efficient and on time receipts of stock and ensure smooth handover to operations team for put away
Sea freight
• All shipments are offloaded within an hour of truck arrival or beginning of the shift
• Each shipment is stacked in the designated lane(s)
• Stock is visually checked for accuracy (pallet level) and for damages
• Shipping department is advised to complete documentation
• All shipments are pre-received into JDA on the day of arrival
• Pre-receipt stickers are produced and applied to all pallets received within the same day of arrival
• Sortation is executed on the same day of receipt
• All shipments are sorted and ready for binning/put away with 24hrs of receipt
Air Freight
• All shipments are offloaded immediately on arrival or beginning of the shift
• Each shipment is stacked in the designated lane(s)
• Stock shipments are pre-received into JDA on the day of arrival
• Branch orders are transferred immediately to correct branches
• Pre-receipt stickers are produced and applied to all stock pallets received within the same day of
arrival
• Sortation is executed on the same day of receipt
• All shipments are sorted and ready for the binning/put away within 24hrs of receipt

Local Receipt
• All shipments are offloaded immediately on arrival
• Each shipment is stacked in the designated lane(s)
• Stock is visually checked for accuracy (pallet level) and for damages
• All necessary documents are handed over to the shipping department for capturing and costing
• Stock shipments are pre-received onto JDA on the day of arrival
• Pre-receipt stickers are produced and applied o all stock pallets received within the same day of arrival
• Sortation is executed on the same day of receipt
• All shipments are sorted and ready for the binning/put away within 24hrs of receipt

Buyouts receipt
• All shipments are offloaded immediately on arrival
• Each shipment is stacked in the designated lane(s)
• Stock is visually checked for accuracy and for damages
• All invoices are captured into the fleet system (Price and quantities must be 100%b accurate)
• Stock is transferred to the dispatch area on the same day of receipt

3. Manage the Receiving Area
• The Receiving and the office areas are neat at all times
• All shipments are in the designated areas
• No stock is left in non-designated areas
• All stock items in receiving are accounted for at all times
• Mange housekeeping
• All MHE adhere to the maintenance schedule as determined by the SHEQ department
• All MHE operators have valid licenses
• Monitor the safekeeping of equipment utilised, addressing potential risks appropriately.
• Dedicated safety reps, fire-fighters and first-aiders are appointed
• The receiving department complies with HSE policy

4. Provide management input to the CDC strategy
• Daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports are compiled and used to manage & improve
performance
• Performance improvement areas are identified and recommendations forwarded to senior
managements
• Keep abreast with changes in relevant guidelines and other legislation, to make recommendations
where policies and procedures need to be amended
• Develop, enhance ad implement processed and procedures that are relevant to the section and
enhance performance
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement new systems and processes,
enabling integration to other areas

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous
  • 5-8 years’ experience in a warehouse environment as a supervisory/management level
  • More than 3 years’ experience with Warehouse Management System
